Should You Buy a Laptop?

Millions of people now have a computer in their homes and
perhaps another one they use while on the job. Although
many still use the old desktop models, more and more
consumers are switching to laptop computers. Convenience of
use and portability are two of the main reasons for this
switch. If you have not yet decided to use a laptop, here
are some reasons to consider doing so.

A desktop weighs far more than a laptop. Cleaning around
a laptop is much simpler because of their weight and ease
of relocation. You needn't be overly concerned about
damaging a laptop as you move it back and forth across the
desk while cleaning. You can even remove it from the desk
completely in one swift motion and clean the entire area.
As all laptops have lids that double as monitors, it is
convenient just to close it up to prevent dust and dirt
from collecting on the keyboard or screen.

You can easily move your laptop between work and home to
coordinate functions between the two locations. Instead of
copying programs and carrying disks with you from one place
to another, simply unplug and fold up your laptop and take
it with you. Of course, you could use a USB Port for the
same goal, but taking your laptop along means you can use
the same keyboard and functions all the time rather than
adapt to two or more computers.

Laptop computers can run off their batteries for several
hours. This means you can take your computer with you to
attend meetings, presentations, or other events where you
want to record data, take notes, or do other tasks that can
help you take away more from the meeting. Take your laptop
to the beach or the kids' ball games if you must complete
the last part of a report before relaxing for the day.

It is obvious that laptops are not going away any time
soon. Technology will continue its advance towards
miniaturization and the products will get smaller and more
powerful as they compete for market share, as with the
pocket computer. Essentially, the desk tops are on the
decline and probably for good reason. Innovations such as
the laptop are capable of helping us to moving faster to
link information in new and exciting ways that can make
life more convenient and beneficial. It is time to give
some serious thought about replacing that old desktop with
a laptop.
